books & cozy things

explore my library of lovely things

I am a magpie when it comes to nailing down what I like about stories, art, culture and creativity. I know I like things that make me feel good and inspire me to dream. I like to be whisked away to a cottage in the woods or a small town bakery filled with tasty treats and wise cracking old ladies.

My books, course, ritual guides and cozy curiosities are all about nurturing your whimsical side and sense of nostalgia before smart phones and stress.

Some things are meant to pull you into a story and let you disappear for a while. Others are invitations to slow down, notice more, explore your creativity, or look at familiar things in a new way. You may find cozy fiction, writing and creative practices, folklore, nostalgia, ritual, beauty, storytelling, and the occasional very deep rabbit hole.

Whatever the format, I want my work to feel warm, thoughtful, imaginative, and genuinely pleasurable to spend time withβ€”the literary equivalent of settling into your favorite chair with a good book and something warm to drink.

I hope you leave with a story you’re still thinking about, a new curiosity to follow, or a little more enchantment tucked into your everyday life.

A new cozy mystery by Christine Rose Elle

The weekend wedding guests have checked in at the Cozy Inn, but innkeeper Emmaline Picardy has a few problemsβ€”burnt scones were served at the breakfast table, it looks like rain for the wedding day, and there is a corpse in the garden. Lower oven temps, and a good solid canopy will take care of the first two issues, but it’s that pesky third thing niggling at her…there lies the trouble.

Soft spoken, ruggedly handsome Detective Rhodes Mercer has forbidden her from touching evidence, or questioning suspects. She wouldn’t dream of it! She has an Inn to run and a wedding to host which of course involves getting to know her guests preferences and pecadillos with or without eavesdropping. Then there is the matter of the missing key. Hmmmm…she swore she’d left it on her desk. Shennanigans are afoot and she must solve the mystery of the missing key and the corpse in the garden before the bride and groom can say I do.

Cozy Mystery

This genre of cozy often includes amateur sleuths, small towns, quirky characters, low-gore crime, has cozy settings that feature food, crafts, books or oddΒ  jobs. Can also feature paranormal elements like witchcraft and sentient beings like dogs, cats and bats that talk or have internal agency.

02

cozy romance

There is no genre per se that is called Cozy Romance, but there are romances that have sweet or cozy love stories, low conflict plot lines and feature comfort settings, with strong community elements. Both spicy and closed door romance exists in cozy romance, but often the main thing is that the conflict is low stakes.

03

Cozy fantasy

Cozy fantasy is more about the magic, enchantment, witches, folklore, familiars, seasonal ritual and low stakes or emotionally safe plot lines, There usually isn’t a murder like in cozy mystery, but there is a problem to solve and deep friendships and found family are popular themes.

04

Cozy Women’s Fiction

Like cozy romance, there is no proper category called Cozy Women’s fiction, but there are plenty of cozy novels that center a female protagonist who has a emotionally satisfying growth journey that are set in cozy towns. Common themes are reinvention, friendship, healing, home, belonging and building a beautiful cozy life.
